Sanskrit (Devanagari)
इति ते ज्ञानमाख्यातं गुह्याद्गुह्यतरं मया। विमृश्यैतदशेषेण यथेच्छसि तथा कुरु॥
Transliteration
iti te jñānam ākhyātaṁ guhyād guhyataraṁ mayā; vimṛśyaitad aśeṣeṇa yathecchasi tathā kuru
English translation
Thus I have declared to you the knowledge that is more secret than secret. Reflect on this fully and then do as you wish.
Meaning — what the verse is actually saying
The Gita's ethical signature. Krishna does not coerce. He teaches, and then he hands the choice back: "do as you wish." The teaching is the lever, not the wall. The decision remains the listener's.
Modern practice — what to do today because of this
Notice when someone tries to make a decision for you in the name of teaching you. Notice when you do the same. The Gita is making a meta-point: a real teacher equips and releases, never compels.
